Yesterday I was perusing the aisles of my local Reject Shop for some storage ideas and I happened upon these containers. It's taken me a while, but now I can admit to really disliking the acrylic containers that everyone and their mother loves. I do understand the appeal though; the idea of actually keeping of all your favourite products in organised drawers while still being able to show them off is pretty cool. I still don't like the translucence. However, a kind of plastic I am partial to is those that are made of hard polypropylene. They look just as clean and feel matte which is awesome. Best of all, they don't make those awful squeaky sounds acrylic plastics do when they rub together. I'm aware that the Muji acrylic drawers don't squeak, but just you wait till the outer rim of that plastic wears off. *Shudder*.
Anyway, these containers actually look like they're normally used for kitchen utensils and the like but my powder products have found a great home with them. Each box measures 17.9 by 13 by 4.5 cm, is very lightweight and satisfyingly sturdy. I love that the edges are rounded so it very conveniently fits all my little pots and knick knacks. I've decided to put my blushers in one, alongside the two Topshop Glow pots; and my complexion powders and small quads, trios and single eyeshadows in the other. This is a huge improvement on systematic order from my previous oval blush holder which was just a lid of a box - I found that the odd shaping didn't allow me to fit all my things in. The height of the sides of these Reject Shop containers are fantastic too as I can now stand up some products.
In all, I am in love with these cool little containers and at just AU$1.50 each it is an uber good bargain for a quality product. Highly recommended so head out to a shop near you! xx
