Currently, I’m sitting in my university library with the aim to start my assignment due next week. It’s not working out well as it seems my mind wants to do everything else except talk about section 48 of so and so act. One of the most distracting things in the area I’m at right now is the smell. It’s not bad per se – just over warm with a hint of peoples’ lunches. Alright it’s pretty bad. Thank goodness I layered on some Clean Shower Fresh and Kai Perfume Oil onto the skin, both of which have significantly mellowed down to a lovely, fresh combination. Shower Fresh I can barely detect but Kai is going strong as always.
On my clothes is the biggest surprise however; I spritzed on some Roger & Gallet Rose Gentle Fragrant Water into the collar lining and armpit areas of my shirt and lightly on my leggings. If you didn’t already know, I’m not a fan of pure rose scents. In fact I avoid it whenever I can. This was an impulse purchase from me a few weeks ago at David Jones because I just liked the scent, unexpectedly. Not until after I looked up the notes did I realize why.
For me, the sting that comes with rose fragrances is almost undetectable – there is a strong presence of peony and almonds which layer with the citrus freshness of mandarin. Needless to say I very much enjoy this. For those who aren't fans of true rose but want an easy breezy white floral/citrus/rose combination, this is for you. I wouldn't wear this everyday in winter and fall/autumn months though, it's best suited for spring; unless you feel like a little happy kick on dreary days of course.
The packaging is probably what drew me first. I almost walked passed the Roger & Gallet section if not for the well-known logo and pretty boxes. I’ve read many reviews of their various perfume selections from international bloggers so I was already eager to try something from the brand. The bottle itself is a cute little thing of sturdy glass and plastic lid. The liquid is actually a very pale pink as with the lid, but my camera didn't want to pick that up in the below picture
The main drawback of this gentle fragrant water is that the longevity is weak on skin which is fair enough as it is marketed as “gentle water”. On clothing it does remarkably well since I sprayed it on this morning around 9.30 and I can still smell it now at 5pm. The thing I like most about this is that you can't annoy anyone surrounding you with the scent as it sits pretty close to the body [clothing], but for some that may be a negative factor. It is possible to over do this for me, if I spray too much I get quite irritated nasally.
Rating: 3/5, not necessary but a nice starter to rose scents anyway.
So now I can pleasantly do some work without too much weird smell drifting to me. If only I could type approximately five hundred words this fast for my assignment. xx
